The CIA staff of the Jalandhar (Rural) police today nabbed a city-based property dealer and his sister and allegedly recovering 1.5 kg of 'ice' (refined heroin) from their possession. It is estimated to be around Rs 15 crore in the international market.
With the arrest of the two, the police claims to have busted an international gang of drug traffickers. Their links were with Punjabi NRIs involved in the drug trade in European countries, the police claims. The heroin was allegedly being smuggled by Harjinder Singh, of Model Town, and his sister Harinder Rani, of Maqsudan, after receiving its supply from Sanjiv Goel, a notorious drug peddler lodged in Mumbai jail.
Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap and nabbed the duo while they were travelling in a car near Adampur, claimed CIA staff in-charge Inderjit Singh.
