The 2012 presidential election, already well underway, became a little more interesting this week.
On the Republican side, former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty ended his campaign after a struggling start. His departure coincided with the entry of Rick Perry, the governor of Texas. Even though Perry, like George W. Bush, comes from the same state and the same office, the comparisons end there. In fact, the two camps have little | love for each other.
The relatively late entrance by Perry is sure to spice up a race that has not yet revealed a clear frontrunner, although Michele Bachmann, a member of Congress from Minnesota, is the latest favourite among Republicans.
President Barack Obama also started working on a secure a second term, beginning a bus tour - on a Canadian- | made coach, no less - of the Midwest, where he confronted a lot of frustration and disappointment with the policies of his administration.
