Young Indonesian copywriter Mita Diran, dies after 30-hour work day

Hard work hasn't killed anybody but long hours at work can and has. In Indonesia, a young copywriter died hours after posting on Twitter: "30 hours of working and still going strooong."

Mita Diran collpased in office, soon after this Twitter complaint and died the next day.

The actual cause of death was not immediately known but her colleagues in the industry are blaming her long hours for her death.

Advertising magazine Ad Age reported that the death struck a chord, 'particularly since it came seven months after a 24-year-old Ogilvy PR staffer in Beijing, Gabriel Li, suffered a heart attack and died at his desk'.

"Mita was a talented copywriter with a gentle smile who will always live on in our hearts," Ad Age quoted a statement from Eny Widayati, general manager of Y&R (Young and Rubicam) Indonesia, as saying. "It is a great loss, and we wish Mita's family the faith and strength in each other in going through this extremely difficult time."

News of her death spread around the world. Condolences — and criticisms of demanding industries —poured in on Twitter.
"My creative friends, tell your boss you're too young to die," tweeted Hendri Cahyana.
"No campaign is worth this. Were not curing cancer, it's just advertising," tweeted Nagham.
Y&R Indonesia closed the office for Diran's funeral.
While cause of death has not been released, local reports blamed her death on long work hours, lack of sleep, and the heavy consumption of energy drinks.

AAP wants your yes or no via SMS and Facebook on forming govt in Delhi

New Delhi - To form a government in Delhi with Congress' support or to seek a re-election? Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) wants to know the answer from the voters of Delhi.

As such, the party has written a letter explaining its "dharma-sankat" (dilemma) and will distribute 25 lakh copies of the letter in the city to ask the people what they think.

The opinion (yes or no) will be collected through SMS, IVR, party website, Facebook and people's assemblies in 270 municipal wards. (Click here to express your opinion )

Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung recommends President's rule in Delhi

Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has recommended keeping the newly elected Assembly in suspended animation, sources said on Monday.

According to sources, the LG has submitted a report to the Ministry of Home Affairs over the deadlock in the national capital in the wake of recently held election. He has recommended bringing Delhi under the central rule, sources said.

The development comes in the wake of a hung verdict following which the BJP, which emerged as the single largest party, refused the LG's invitation to form the government saying it did not have enough support to prove the majority in the 70-member House.

The next biggest party, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has also expressed its unwillingness to form the government despite a letter from the Congress to the LG, committing its outside support. Even the BJP had offered its support to AAP to form the government.

The LG had on Saturday sent a detailed report to President Pranab Mukherjee about the political situation in Delhi and mentioned that government-formation was not possible. The tenure of the current Assembly ends on December 18 and President's rule has to be imposed after that if a government is not put in place by then, officials said.

The AAP on Saturday had put the onus on the Congress and the BJP for taking its support to form a government by putting forth 18 conditions and wanting to know their views on them, a move seen as an attempt to rebut criticism that it was shying away from taking responsibility.

BJP, along with its ally Akali Dal's one seat, has 32 MLAs in the House while AAP has 28 seats, followed by Congress's eight. JD-U won one seat, while there is one Independent MLA.
