Punjab Technical varsity degrees now a click away

Jalandhar, November 9
Come next month and the students of Punjab Technical University will no longer have to make repeated rounds of the campus to get various documents, including provisional degrees, detailed marks certificates and migration certificates.
Instead, their applications would be accepted online, with confirmation regarding the same in three days and postal dispatch of the requisite documents in seven days. A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of the academic council on the campus today.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr Rajneesh Arora, said that there would be a tie-up with some government or private computer agency for the purpose. The students would have to log on to www.ptuexams.com to put in their request. “The request would be forwarded to the concerned college for getting their NOC. Once the NOC has been sent, a confirmation would be sent to the student on his mail. After another three days of processing, the requested document would be dispatched to the applicant”, he elaborated on the process.
The university also decided to give a golden chance to the students who have not been able to complete their degree within the stipulated time frame. As per the norms, the degree completion time is double the duration for any degree, for instance, it is eight years for a four-year degree. “However, there are nearly 500 students who have not been able to complete the degree even in this extended period. A special chance will be given to the students in May 2012”, said the VC.
The university also authorised the college principals to directly take re-admission cases of students who had discontinued studies owing to some illness or for going abroad. “The colleges will, however, have to seek due approvals for the same”, Dr Arora said.
It was announced in the council that the university now has over 5.25 lakh students, including 3 lakh distance education centres in 2020 centres. There are nearly 402 regular colleges of the university, including those for engineering, management and pharmacy.
