HARPREET MURDER CASE


Court asks counsel to bring documents, if any
Patiala, March 9
As the proceedings in the murder case of Harpreet Kaur, daughter of former SGPC president and SAD MLA Bibi Jagir Kaur started in the Court of Special Judge (CBI cases), Balbir Singh here today, the court has given a week time to the defence and the prosecuting agency to bring it to the notice of the court, if anything pertaining to the case is left out.
Defence counsel SS Kler said, "The court has ordered that the final opportunity for placing any document etc regarding the case, by the defence and the prosecuting agency, will be the next date of hearing fixed for March 16."
CBI counsel RK Handa said during the court proceedings, the CBI reiterated that they have entire record of the statements given by the complainant Kamaljit. "Since the murder case of Harpreet comes under the category of those cases, wherein the crime was committed for family prestige, 'honour killing', even if the witness turns hostile, the statements given by him earlier, will be relied upon.”
