Sunita Narain injured in a hit-and-run

New Delhi - The 52-year-old Director General for the Centre of Science and Environment (CSE), Sunita Narain, was injured after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on Sunday morning at the AIIMS flyover while she was cycling to Lodi Gardens.
Based on the victim’s medical report, a case was registered under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life) of the IPC has been registered at the Hauz Khas Police Station.
“Around 6 am Narain, a resident of Green Park, had reached AIIMS flyover when an unidentified vehicle reversed and allegedly hit her. She lost her balance and fell,” said a senior police officer, adding that she was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre by some passersby.
At 6.45 am, police received a call from AIIMS Trauma Centre and after reaching the hospital, they immediately registered a case on the basis of her medical preliminary report. “Narain sustained a swelling on both her forearms and hands, and has a lacerated wound on her nose. She is presently in the ICU,” the officer added.
